Of Stickmen and Kittens
Pour caffeine in here... and I'll go into autopilot for the rest of the summer.
I think I need some sleep. And exercise.
I went for my first run in a long time today and managed to do my full run well enough without any stops... which was good. The weather was cool and breezy, so that probably helped. I wasn't going to start until later, but Greg had sort of dared me, and... well... I have my title at stake.
Last night Erin came over and we did sort of a basic prototype for the new SSA webpage. I'm thinking about running for Neil's spot if they do a by-election, but I promised myself I'd get out of it (hence why I forewent the presidency) and so I'd be breaking my promise. Darn self.
I got a corkboard the day before last and have decided that it is way too plain, so I'm painting it. However, I decided to do a sort of mural, so ... erg.. this may take me a while. As long as I'm done before school starts, I'll be happy. I'm doing the profile of an Egyptian man, and then the other profile facing him of a Mayan man with a full ceremonial headdress. I hope this works... so far I got the face of the Egyptian, and he's gorgeous, but we'll see.. I'm not much of an artist...

And my Religious bit of the day...
In other news, I have learned how to sum up what I've learned from the Bible in my meditations on the topic...
The only lesson we can take from it that is not altered or tampered by translations by those with a specific agenda in mind is the idea of SELF-SACRIFICE.
"The Word" - I'm skeptical that this is really accurate. I can take something on faith, but not another mere human's word that it's translated correctly.
"The Actions" - now THIS would be the basis for an interesting religion. Hard to lose the meaning in a complex story of the actions taken by characters.
The idea of sacrifice is not lost. What would happen if this became the focus of all those battles, rather than small technicalities in the language, that take away other people's rights?
I wonder if there is a denomination of Christianity that focuses on the ACTIONS in the Bible rather than the WORDS?
I just think it's an exceedingly interesting idea.
And to finish up...
I don't agree with this statement, but it's so deliciously weird.
