I'm developing a rather unorthodox crush on Shah Rukh Khan...
...me and every other young female Bollywood movie-watcher.
I mean, he's not the best dancer - but his characters are so lovable.
And don't get me started about the appeal of those tight baby blue pants and semi-sheer 70's collared shirts... Actually... hmm. scratch that.
Marc and I finished Veer-Zaara today. I think I've almost given up on American films.
Bollywood movies are so addictively great. Cheesy, but great.

Ethnobotany
My head is absolutely swimming in the manner of someone who doesn't take breaks while they study... reason being that I'm studying for an exam in Tropical Ecology - a decent class, and it's all just really interesting. I don't even notice the time flying by - except that I'm slowing going blind from the computer screen.
meh.
It's been a very interesting week - believe it or not. We finished classes on Monday, which is sort of nice, and then I put together my poster to get it printed. It turned out sort of fluorescent green, but is very pretty, a quality far more important than actual scientific content, right?
Poster day wasn't fun - but I was very happy for Shan who impressed us all with her excellent poster (congrats!) My evaluations were sort of unimpressive and sort of discouraging, but strangely they both still gave me a really good mark. Do I forgive them? I probably could have used some feedback on my bloody thesis. oh well.
What made the morning sort of amusing was the excitement of all those who had weevils named after them! :)
After the morning, went for crazy pina coladas and a fabulous celebratory lunch at the Blue Cactus with Shan, Greg and Steve. It was so great to just go out - the sun was shining, and it was a beautiful day!
Meanwhile, the windows in my room were being replaced. While it was really bothersome and created a very thick layer of choking dust, the unfinished pine smells sort of good and I can open my window properly (no need to prop it open with a binder anymore!)
Friday - spent the day in my lab, discussing aspects of our thesises to an insane detail, planning out maps, and going through the types from England - the best part. I feel so unbelievably underqualified to be touching original specimens that had been collected by early explorers who risked life and limb to reach the new world just to get a few beetles. I got to touch them too!
Last night - went out with the Zoo Crew for an evening of strange food. We bought shrimp rings from Loeb that smelled like wet dog and Megan (who tried it first) says they tasted even worse. Lesson: Don't buy discounted seafood.
Anyway - it was a nice evening - and great to see everyone again.
OK - I should get dinner and then back to this. Woot for Ethnobotany. I can't believe I get to study this stuff :)

Lust for Life!
Yesterday, I attended a fairly random but very fun party with Megan and her friends from school. That was my first keg-in-the-bathtub party - but it was definitely a hit, if not slightly bizarre...
Today - watched the end of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham with Marc - we were watching it in hour-long increments (my bum gets sore - honestly - but don't get me wrong - Bollywood movies shouldn't be shortened!)
I think I'm addicted though. I've been humming the main theme all day. I even do the singing "ahhhhh ahh ahhhh" - but I don't speak Hindi, alas.
