Insane

Remember we were talking about the world's craziest marathon - the Marathon des Sables (Shan - I think you heard about it from Liana)...

Anyway - I stumbled on this - I'm not sure if it's for real, but it's an interesting bed time story.

Are we wasting our lives not doing these things? Or are these people just crazy?
I think I have the crazy gene, but not to that extent.

Just do it!

Not a bad day. I just gritted my teeth and limped everywhere - however parking in the 3 hour zone was out of the question so I only spent an hour prepping today - so I have to go back while I'm at school tomorrow and finish up. Not bad.

While I was there, I beat the record for quickest shaving of sea urchin spines ever! Can I ever scrape with that scalpel! Go me!

At the lab, made some more progress. I'm doubting my initial classification - and I think the flatness of the eye facets plays a large role, which I just started to explore now.

Outside it's getting cold and damp and I'm getting that feeling when you cannot warm up, even with a ton of sweaters.

Ok - my life is ridiculous!

I am just feeling better today - just starting to be back to NORMAL - when on the way out of philosophy - a terrific lecture on Kant - I fall down some stairs and sprain my ankle - making this the second sprain since January.

Woo crutches. And crutches don't work so well with sore ribs.

It's not fair - I'm a total invalid - and I have to drive to school tomorrow, park in the three hour zone, and walk - on crutches. I'm not sure how this is going to work... I can't walk all the way to the bus stop either. DAMN.

I'm so sick of being in pain!! ARGH

Baby don't got back.

Well I'm back in action - at least well enough to suffice for school. I had better be over this - I finished the last of my antibiotics today! My back is quite sore though, so I'm unable to walk without appearing rather feeble and blending quite nicely into my neighbourhood.

While boarding the bus this morning, a gentleman (who was dressed in a rather old-fashioned manner) was graciously allowing everybody onto the bus first (everybody else being women) and bowing to each of us - something that I have seen often in elderly gentlemen but rarely in somebody in his mid thirties. Not just this - on the bus, he had a pipe - a real PIPE - on a BUS - and proceeded to pull out a digital camera and take pictures of everything we passed by. Not just that - but he sort of looked like this:

In fact, it was quite possible that he even wore a cape.

It was good to see somebody who enjoys life so much.

I tend to, but I'm a little more quiet about these things.

I met Shan for a coffee break and tried a place called the Roasted Cherry. I'll do a plug for this now because I value youth-oriented development programs. Well, instead of doing a plug - read about it here.
or in another news story here.
I mean, if Paul Martin drinks coffee here - it must be... good? ...wait a tick.

Back at home - my mom was watching Oprah - it was her "favorite things" episode where she gives tons of STUFF to the entire audience, in this case, a bunch of teachers. I could be mature here and congratulate the whole teaching world and say how they're wonderful mentors and grossly undervalued, but that would be a lie. Most teachers, in my humble experience, are absolutely mental. Only a few seem to cross a boundary into sane-dom and among these only a few actually go the extra mile to make their teaching quite good. Luckily, being an optimist I remember those teachers who were good to me in the past. I don't remember most of the bad ones. Those memories are locked away.

Anyway - I was shocked by the fact that a whole hour of TV can revolve around her giving people STUFF - most of which is completely useless and extremely hideous (a purple crocodile bag - worth 400$?). Although it seemed quite decent of her to offer a 500$ gift certificate to help them buy school supplies, and I'm sure they all will come to appreciate the Sony laptop, it seemed so very over the top and so... material that I think it was really missing something. In fact, the show sort of made me feel sick.

I went upstairs to watch some sweet Top Gear with Marc. I can't believe how entertaining this show about CARS of all things can be. I love watching it - especially some of the stunts and unusual tortures that they do to caravans. I've decided that I fancy power over speed - and while Aston Martins are beautiful and Ferraris (enzo, anyone?) are stunning...

These are terrific and funny.

Realistically, if I had a lot of money to spend on cars, and if I didn't care about the air quality (which I do) and fuel economy (which I also do)...

Discovery 3 - got a great review, and I just like that they're capable of so much!

*drool*

NOOOOO I'm turning into a guy - drooling over cars!
