Shannon's blog book thing..
Ok, my turn, let's have a go!
Instructions:
1. Take five (random!) books off your bookshelf.
2. Book #1 -- first sentence
3. Book #2 -- last sentence on page fifty
4. Book #3 -- second sentence on page one hundred
5. Book #4 -- next to the last sentence on page one hundred fifty
6. Book #5 -- final sentence of the book
7. Make the five sentences into a paragraph
Everyone now knows how to find the meaning of life within himself. Although in principle we know the equations that govern the whole of biology, we have not been able to reduce the study of human behaviour to a branch of applied mathematics. With these two facts in my possession I felt that either my intelligence or my courage must be deficient if I could not throw some furthur light upon these dark places. "Jesus H. Christ, with friends like that, who needs bloody enemies?" This is what I hold myself justified in requiring for the possibility of metaphysics as a science.
