The thing about the senators
The Senators are a great team. And it's driving me CRAZY right now how many people just give up on them for NOT winning the impossibly hard to get stanley cup! Fans in Ottawa have no sense of devotion to their team. Lots of teams don't make the playoffs for YEARS and their fans stand by and NEVER boo them for it. They Cheer them until the skills come back!
I think what bothers me is the sense of entitlement that a lot of the big city folks have that you just don't see out in the smaller communities. People don't feel that they're owed the stanley cup, or that they're owed anything at all. They make things happen for themselves and if they can't get their lives in gear, they blame themselves. It's true and it makes so much more sense!
So fans - when you're giving the sens a hard time, think about it. They played very well and very hard until the end. There are other teams in the league who are very good! And no, they didn't "Choke" - they were fairly beaten. I started watching hockey when I realized it wasn't about the retarded competitiveness - it's about watching the actual game itself.
The most ridiculous thing is that year after year they do so well and nobody congratulates them on it. Other players in the league recognize that they're a great team, but their own fans turn on them.
OTTAWA FANS, STAND BY YOUR TEAM!
