And so it ends...
I LOVE I LOVE I LOVE living alone! I think I just must be the "type". People told me many times how much I'd get lonely, and how much I'd crave other people - but NO! I love being alone, and having my own space! It's the best thing ever! Even on the weekend, when the other Fredericton people were busy or out of town, I headed out for coffee with myself or grocery shopping - even cleaning was more fun! Still - it'll be nice to have company.
Life as a grad student is more work but it's strange. I don't do a lot of work in the evening or on weekends, but I do work all day during regular day hours. Before, I'd sort of have hours of slackage at school - whereas in the lab I actually work. We have a grad room where all of us have desks and our own computers, and we all sit there analyzing data. Also watching Jon Stewart. Yes. The people in my lab are friendly and evil. Aside from trying to get drunk during the middle of the day (Grad house = bar, as I've learned), and constant PRANKS and TEASING, they're an awesome bunch.
Fredericton is really isolated but at the same time it's neat. I don't know why - but there's this odd mixture of people and it just works. The old clapboard houses are sure different from Ottawa. I also like that I'm living downtown. My apartment is a 30 minute walk (at least) from campus, but I like being close to all the action. At least, what action there is.
Alas, I'm heading home on Thursday. The next week won't be fun.
