I'm a thief
...I'm a loser...
I miss Radiohead. I wonder what they're up to. It's really been awhile.
I've been listening to lots of music recently - BBC 6 is a good source of info. I'm an honest person and I'll go out and buy the music I like - right now I've downloaded it to hear it to see if it's worth buying though. That's the thing with buying cds - it was always this gamble and I'm a cautious person. I'm also compiling a list of books to buy when I get the chance. Those I find are less of a gamble, I always enjoy books even if they're boring.
Today, been trying out KT Tunstall - Under the Telescope - so far it's great. On the recommendation of Heidi and BBC 6, also listening to Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Fever to Tell. I enjoy both to be perfectly honest. I can tell I'm going to be a lot poorer soon.
Bookswise, I think I'll give Independent People by Halldor Laxness, The Plague by Albert Camus and The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie a go. I'm excited to get going on some great literature, and I don't feel guilty buying it before the summer as I'll need some evening reading on the nights I'm alone in Caledonia. The nights may be many.
I tried to watch the Junos but I was sort of embarrassed. I can't honestly believe that show was broadcast to "billions" of people around the world - oh god can you imagine that many people putting up with that kind of lameness? I'm sorry, it's not
the musicians fault. The audience had no energy (I think the average age, judging from the aerial shots, was an *ugly* 50+). The people putting on the TV broadcast did a terrible job as well - the sound quality was often cut and you could hear the crickets in the audience instead. Nevermind that Pamela Anderson's jokes hadn't been approved by an actual funny person or something, Jesus. Truthfully, it was embarrassing. We're only seemingly keen to be Canadian, although we don't seem to understand ourselves what that means, and we're not keen about our own music to be perfectly honest, so we need to invite good groups from other nations to partipate, which I guess is fine. We have some great music locked away and it's a shame that the junos lacked so much energy and finesse.
