Give thanks for stuff

Thanksgiving - the day when you're supposed to remember how to be grateful.

I make it a point to take a moment and remember how grateful I am every day.
I don't see much of a point to Thanksgiving.
I suppose if it helps some people...

I went for a brunch at Denny's - the pinnacle of Thanksgiving CLASS, with Zanz and co. before she headed back to TO. I had a decent omelette -but the english muffin was so drenched in butter that the waiter even said "hold on that's just disgusting" and took it away. Too much of a good thing!

Spent the day afterwards with Meg doing a full workout - we did a run, weights, and some stretches too - a great workout!

Later in the evening, I was invited over to Gregory's for family dinner - who would have thought rotisserie turkey would be that good? Yeah! And his mom made homemade pie! (something I'm quite deprived of, usually)...

Today - just a normal lab day - was becoming frustrating though - it seems like I'm getting absolutely nowhere, but I'm told that that's the way it works with taxonomy..

Where some of the weevils call home..

Mushrooms!

Mowing the lawn in fall when there are lots of leaves and mushrooms makes me all sniffly. I may have allergies.

Turkey tonight - grandparents are taking us out - for a 4:30 dinner. Yes.

Yippee!

Saturdays should always be like this

My parental units are in Europe. Yay for no official Thanksgiving - I'm not a fan of formal holidays, it takes way too much effort and why do we bother? I mean, look at Christmas. Goal for Christmas: to boost the economy. Goal for Thanksgiving: to keep turkey farmers in business.

I got to forego some cleaning chores and spend the day with Greg doing some studying, watched movie and ate nachos. Later on in the evening, I met up with some old pals (Vicks, Stef, Pip and Julia), and went to a comedy club to listen to some prime stuff.

Great day overall.

What I learned:

Turkey sandwiches, with real turkey, make you happy. Chemically.
Some stuff about integrated pest management and Bt corn, which I promptly forgot.
Drunk drivers still exist, are dangerous and should be punished severely.
Comedians are funnier if they have confidence.
Comedians are funnier if the sex jokes are sparse and therefore unexpected.
Tea from Tim Hortons burns your tongue even if you let it sit for half an hour.

My friends tend to walk more slowly if it's colder outside.
Studying with your significant other can be distracting.
In order to actually study, sit far apart and put on loud music.
People drink out of Nalgene bottles even if they have a perfectly good glass.

and finally,
Americans are afraid of Bush too.

Lost

Turns out it's probably not a Dinosaur - since it doesn't fit into the fiction of the show.

boo.
